Update 1/1/20: After three successful years as Richmond’s only cat cafe, Central Purrk is currently closed. Unable to commit to the terms of the next lease, the cat cafe chose to shutter. Central Purrk intends to take a temporary break while they seek a new location. Don’t worry: all the kitties found homes or were placed in foster. Central Purrk continues their cat rescue work while seeking their next location.We can’t wait to see what’s next!

The Vibe: Friends, with Cats
Add cats to the Central Perk of the T.V. show Friends for a purrfect sense of the vibe of this feline cafe incarnation: friendly, hip, and comfortable. With cats. Set in the historic Shockoe District of Richmond, Central Purrk occupies a charming shotgun storefront with exposed brick walls and lots of comfy places to hang out with the kitties.
Since opening in 2017, owners Angela and Jeff Sidener have sharpened their focus to more cats, less cafe. Seems that Richmond cares more about tabbies and fluffies than gourmet lattes and muffins. You can still get a fine cup of Keurig coffee, but cats are the main attraction. You’ll be greeted by up to fifteen cats, all fully vetted and ready to interview you for possible adoption. Super affordable admission fees, which includes a free drink of your choice, make Central Purrk accessible for all.
