California Cat Cafes

California is for cat lovers! Oh yeah,  California remains  one of the top  cat cafe  destinations in the country. While growth has slowed from the record 44%  increase in 2019, the state continues to add new cafes. More importantly, Cali’s well-established cat cafes continue to thrive, despite the challenges of the pandemic years. The state’s newest cat cafe is The Caffeinated Cat Cafe, which opens in December 2024. The opening of Caffeinated Cat Cafe marks the first new cat cafe in the state in two years.

How Many Cat Cafes Does California Have?

California has seventeen cat cafes. The Golden State ranks in the top five states by number of cat cafes. Only Florida and Pennylvania have more.

Of course California is home to the very first cat cafe in America. Can you believe that a short ten years ago there were NO cat cafes in the United States? We can can thank the founder of Oakland’s Cat Town, Anne Dunn, for bringing cat cafe concept to our shores and expanding the vision to finding homes for rescue cats.
