Florida Cat Cafe Trends
Since Orlando Cat Cafe opened near Disney as the first Florida cat cafe in 2016, year-by-year growth has climbed steadily. Bucking a national trend, 2020 was a blue ribbon year for Florida cat cafe growth, with the opening of five cafes. Since 2021, the state has average openings of three cat cafes per year. 2025 also saw the shuttering of several beloved cafes (including Gainesville’s Feeline Good and Plant City’s Catnip Cafe and Lounge) for various reasons, keeping overall growth in the state flat for the year.
Mid-way thru 2026, the trend is bright and sunny with four new cat cafes on the Florida cat cafe map. First up is a purrfect full-service cat cafe in Frostproof, about one hour from Orlando. A ground-breaking Collier County Purr & Play in Naples represents a unique collaborative effort between county agencies to place this open-concept adoption lounge right in the heart of a major recreation center. The new Maine Coon Manor Cat Cafe in Kissimmee very much lives up to its billing as the “bougiest cat cafe in Florida,” with a full-service cafe experience and two cat lounges. Unique to the Manor is a cat lounge showcasing exotic breeds like Maine Coon and Sphinx cats who live permanently at the cafe, as well as a separate lounge with one-of-a-kind adoptable cats. In Ocala, the new Purrs and Pages brings the cats and books trend to north central Florida.

Just as Florida has led the country in population growth the past several years, the Sunshine State also leads in cat cafes.
