California is for cat lovers! California is home to twenty-five cat cafes. Note: three of these cafes are temporarily closed to renovation (Dancing Cat) and relocation (Chico, Cat Cafe Rescue), as indicated below. The Golden State ranks consistently in the top five states by number of cat cafes, with only Pennsylvania having more at the moment. California is home to the 1st and longest running cat cafes in the country and offers a rich variety cat cafe experiences, including:

- Cafes with specialty cocktails, wine
- Cafes with full menu of snacks, food
- A Korean-inspired cafe
- Cat lounge + thrift store

California Cat Cafe Trends
California remains one of the top cat cafe destinations in the country. While growth has slowed from the record 44% increase in 2019, the state continues to add new cafes. More importantly, Cali’s well-established cat cafes continue to thrive, despite the challenges of the pandemic years. 2024 saw a 13% rise in the number of California cat cafes with the opening of the first new cat cafes in two years. Mid-way through 2025, the state has added four new cafes to the cat cafe map.
