Vermont is home to two cat cafes! The Kitty Korner Cafe in Barre opened as the state’s first cat cafe in 2020. Vermont’s largest city of Burlington added Queen City Cat Lounge in 2024.
While the Green Mountain State ranks 49th state in the country by population, Vermonters nonetheless enjoy a high per-capita-cat-cafe density compared to many of the most populous states. As a leading state for pet lovers, it stands to reason that Vermont would also lead in cat cafes. In fact, 70% of Vermont residents own pets and 45% have at least one cat.
