Catcade, Lakeview-Chicago

It took Illinois awhile to get a cat cafe, but Catcade proves it was worth the wait. Opened in August 2017,  this offbeat lounge can be counted as the first cat cafe in both Illinois and Chicago. No ordinary establishment featuring cats and coffee, Catcade is delightful proof that even the best things in life are better with cats.

Think about your favorite thing in the world. After cats, of course. Now match that up with a cat cafe. The formula goes like this:

Favorite Thing + Cat Cafe = Brilliant Idea

Say, for example, you love eighties arcade games. And cats. Voila! This the genius mashup that is Catcade! Catcade is a fresh take on the cat cafe, bringing together eighties arcade games and soda pop to help find rescue cats permanent homes.

Non-profit Cat Rescue

Unlike most United States cat cafes, Catcade doesn’t just partner with local cat rescue organizations, they are a non-profit cat rescue. They personally rescue cats from high-kill shelters to provide a safe and enriching environment for cats to find a permanent, loving home. They are cat-first in every way, even insisting that kittens be adopted in pairs (or have a young furry friend in the home). While they could easily adopt out more single kittens,  they know that kittens are happier and healthier when adopted in pairs.  Genius!
