Tabby’s partners with local no-kill shelter, the Dunn County Humane Society , to find kitties forever homes. While smaller than cities like Minneapolis or Milwaukee, the needs of homeless and displaced cats in Menomonie are no less great. Here at Tabby’s you’ll always find four cats enjoying homey comforts and company while waiting to meet their fur-ever families. In two short years, Tabby’s has found homes for over fifty cats -a giant accomplishment for a small community.
Lo-CAT-ion: Tabby’s Catfe in Menomonie
The friendly cafe is located in downtown Menomonie, a town of just over sixteen thousand in the Red River Valley of Wisconsin. Menomonie is your quintessential small Wisconsin town, complete with its own lake and college. Both Lake Menomonie and the University of Wisconsin-Stout are a short walk from the Catfe. Menomonie has long been a antique-ing destination, and more recently it is home to a vibrant craft brew scene. It now has three breweries, all within walking distance to Tabby’s. Welcoming, walkable Menomonie even provides FREE PARKING all summer long (5/31 to 8/16). We see the perfect day trip to Menomonie taking shape!
But how did unlikely Menomonie come to have its very own cat cafe? Like many a brilliant idea, it started as a joke. Lifelong cat lover and Menomonie-an Karlyn Davis joked to her husband, “We should open a cat cafe!” Her sister-in-law Amanda Davis got in on the joke and together they created the genius that is Tabby’s Catfe. The Menomonie community immediately fell in love with their cat cafe and Tabby’s has already doubled their size in under two years to serve the cat loving peoples.
Tabby’s Puts the Cafe in Catfe!
While many U.S. cat cafes are more cat than cafe, Tabby’s has the best of both. In fact, Tabby’s Catfe may well serve the most extensive food offerings of any cat cafe in the country. Tabby’s serves up an unlimited salad and homemade soup bar everyday. That’s right: two made-from-scratch soups, everyday! Unlimited! You can choose a specialty sandwich like The Tabby, a grilled swiss and roast beef on marble rye, or Build Your Own. On Friday evenings from 4:30-8 pm, Tabby’s is a regional culinary destination well known for its extensive and delicious dinner buffet.
Real Food, Real China, Local Faves
Tabby’s is the real deal, folks. Real, made from scratch food served on real china. Coffee served in a nice mug with a some heft to it. In this single use, throw-away world, Tabby’s keeps it real. You’ll delight in Tabby’s offering of often hard to find beverage faves like Sprechers and Clearly Canadian. A full line of San Pellegrino specialty waters rounds out the non-alcoholic offerings. Tabby’s also offers wine and a selection of local craft beers that rotate with the seasons. And local fave Spotted Cow is always on hand.

One of the best things about having a cat cafe obsession is the delight in discovering what makes each cafe unique and wonderful. In particular, Tabby’s Catfe is truly like no other cat cafe in the country! Without question, it is the only cat cafe in the country with a full service cafe and Friday night buffet. It is the only cat cafe in the country to have an Unlimited, homemade soup and salad bar. There’s more.
Tabby’s is the only cat cafe in the WORLD to have a fully functioning Richard Scarry kiddy ride! Ok, probably the only cat cafe in the world to even have a kiddy ride. Who even knew such a wonder existed? All the warm memories of Scarry’s beloved books such as the Busytown series will come surging back when you see Lowly Worm sporting a Tyrolean hat and driving an apple car on the catio. For a quarter, your child can take a ride into Scarry’s charming, busy world. In this centennial year celebrating Scarry’s birth, Tabby’s should surely be a destination.
The ride was gifted to the Catfe by a friend who recognized Tabby’s as the perfect home for the world to appreciate the ride. It took a forklift to place it in its current home on the catio!
Cat lovers visiting Tabby’s are also cheered by murals painted by Karlyn Davis’s mother from the classic children’s book Millions of Cats. Whether you’re from Wisconsin or just passing through, Tabby’s is a must-visit on your cat cafe adventures.
